What would Jackson Galaxy do?

Okay, in case you do not follow my other blog, The Wiccan Life, I have been having a bit of an issue with our two female cats marking their territory  all over our good couch since we took in our temporary guest, Niecy, for my friend while her family is on vacation until next Saturday!

Now first of all, our girls are already spayed, so that isn't in the least bit a problem. Not to mention that we cat-sat for this particular kitty last year without incident.

Females. What a real pain in the ass these girls can be! I guess my hubby and I were extremely fortunate in the past as we had two beauitfull, well-behaved, non-territorial females who NEVER pulled this crap ~  not even after we took in our black and white male tuxedo cat, Mr. Bojangles, as a kitten!

Okay Jackson, what would you do other than perhaps tell us to never take in another female cat unless they were either:

A.  an only house cat or,
B.  Litter siblings

Needless to say, we have washed the couch cushions and their covers (twice) and saturated everything with "Urine Gone" and "Nature's Miracle's Orange Oxy Power" spray. Not too sure about the Orange Oxy yet, but the Urine Gone may as well be plain old water as it has done absolutely nothing to deter them

I tell you, gimme a neutered male cat (or 5) any day of the week! LOL! As for Niecy, she is just chilling and is as calm and relaxed as can be in a strange house around strange cats.

Hmmm, maybe I can trade one of my females in for this little sweetheart, eh? ...

My house guest, Niecy!

Today, I will be welcoming my house guest, Niecy. I am cat-sitting her for a Reiki client, and friend, of mine. She actually belongs to my friends' daughter who only trusts me, her "Aunt Kimmie," to care for her.

Niecy's owners, Kylie and my Reiki client (her mommy) Britnee

I will be watching her through the entire next week while her owners are on their yearly vacation to Florida. She is such a sweet little gray and white tabby cat and so well behaved. I have been cat-sitting her for the past couple of years and always look forward to seeing her!

She is also a rescue kitty who happens to love people. I have a huge dog cage set up downstairs aside of my Reiki Room for her which is large enough to hold a litter box, water bowl, food dish and toys. I will be keeping her there during the day while I am at work and then I will socialize her after I get home by bringing her upstairs with the rest of us. This way, she is sure to get plenty of attention!

Meet Sam!

This is our little 4-year old Dwarf Bunny, Sam. Like all of the other rabbits we have had in the past, Sam was a rescue bunny. My hubby and I came home from a Fourth of July picnic a couple of years ago and there he was hopping around in your front yard along with his buddy ~ another white and brown dwarf whom we named Sidney.

We ended up getting a good home for Sid and, of course, keeping Samuel.  Sam is such a character! He uses a litterbox, although I never had to train him to do so like my other rabbits. When he is hungry, he will literally stomp on the floor of his cage until I come and feed him. He loves the cats ~ most especially Midnight. And the feeling is mutual as Midnight loves to keep him company by lying aside of his cage almost every day ...

My dad just loves Sam!

This is Sid (Sam's brother) having some fun watching TV with his new daddy, Dustin!

What can I say? I'm a real sucker for cats and rabbits!!! LOL!!!

A Cat's Prayer

A Cat's Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-size bed is soft and deep...
I sleep right in the center groove
My human can hardly move!
I've trapped her legs, she's tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and "I want food!"
I sneak up slowly to begin
My nibbles on my human's chin.
She wakes up quickly, I have sharp teeth -
And my claws I will unsheath
For the morning's here and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
This human person that I see.
The one who hugs me and holds me tight
And sacrifices her bed at night.

Can't get enough of that Pit Boss

Now, at the risk of stating the obvious, I like dogs, but I am very much more of a "cat" person at heart. That being said, I have to tell you that I am really hooked on the television series, "Pit Boss"!

For those of you who never watched it, it is a reality show about a former movie actor named Francis "Shorty" Rossi who happened to have spent 10 years in jail before turning his life around and becoming an actor/Talent Agent/Pit Bull Activist. Upon his release from prison, Shorty vowed to dedicate the rest of his life to rescuing and placing good homes for his Pit Bulls, whom he swears have "always been there" for him.

Shorty is an L.P. (Little Person) with a bit of a foul mouth and a big heart! He is the owner and boss of his own little people talent agency called "Shortywood" and uses a huge portion of that money for his other business known as "Shorty's Rescue."

The show is primarily centered around Shorty and his dogs, his three employees (and friends) Ashley Brooks, Ronald Lee Clark and Sebastian Saraceno ~ all Little People also.

For me; however, the heart of the show is the somewhat touching (and sometimes humorous) interaction between these very diverse individuals. Ashley is the laid back, fun-loving receptionist who is vying for a career as a comedian.  Both Ronald, who is Shortywood's Booking Assistant and Seb who is its' Entertainment Coordinator, are pursuing careers as professional actors and have both landed roles in the up-coming movie, "Sleeping Beauty" starring Julia Roberts. These guys are also the muscle behind Shorty's Rescue and they are in it for the love of the dogs.

"Pit Boss Theme Re-Mix" (Love this!)

To be honest, this show has forced me to see Pit Bulls in a different light than they are usully portrayed by the public eye. It just proves to me what I have always thought  all along~ that it is "people"  who usually make an animal mean or dangerous and NOT the animal itself!

Kitty Litter Cake

KITTY LITTER CAKE

Ingredients:
1 box German Chocolate cake mix
1 box white cake mix
1 package vanilla sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
A dozen or so small Tootsie Rolls

Serving Dishes and Utensils:
1 NEW cat litter box
1 NEW cat litter box liner
1 NEW pooper scooper

Directions:
1) Prepare and bake cake mixes according to directions in any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of the green food coloring to one cup cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.

2) When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large, bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moise but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.

3) Unwrap three Tootsie Rolls and heat in microwave until soft and pliable. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three or more rolls. Burry the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle the remaining vanilla cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.

4) Heat five more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrap them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box. Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with the scooper. Enjoy!
