"Cat Daddy" by Jackson Galaxy: Book Review

I laughed. I cried. I related. Jackson Galaxy's new book, "Cat Daddy: What the World's Most Incorrigible Cat Taught Me About Life, Love, and Coming Clean," is a heart-touching biography about his early life of drug, alcohol and food addiction, career in working and caring for animals, and his first foster cat named Benny whom he took in while working at an animal shelter in Boulder, Colorado.  While working late one night, Benny's heartless owner dropped him off with a shattered pelvis after he was hit by a car. What started out as a foster care situation turned into a lifetime of trials and tribulations.

Jackson takes you on an amazing journey through his fascinating life working with cats. A Cat Behaviorist, he has devoted his entire life to their service ~ dedicated to saving them while educating the humans who inhabit their world.

I found it extremely easy to put myself in Jackson's shoes as he tells his true and sometimes heart-breaking story. Although this book is primarily about his life with Benny, it also has a lot of very helpful hints about living with and taking care of your best friend.

This is an excellent book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone! Let's just say that I loved it so much that I managed to read the entire thing in only three days!

At last!

Horray! I am so excited! Today, I finally bought the long-awaited book written by Cat Behaviorist and host of the Animal Planet series, "My Cat From Hell," Jackson Galaxy titled "Cat Daddy."

I ran into "Barnes & Noble" over my lunch hour and made the mistake of beginning to read it instead of waiting until I got home. Now, I can't keep my nose out of it!  So far, it is off to a great start!

I can't wait to finish it so that I can write my book review! ;)

Welcome to my morning!

It's Saturday morning and I am lying comfortably in my bed. While trying to sleep, I hear a moew-like mudder coming from the floor aside of the bed. Trying to ignore it, I turn over and again I make an attempt to go back to my slumber. Suddenly, up jumps my cat Midnight who graciously positions his paw on my head and gently pushes it to the left of my pillow as to expose my ear so that I can hear his cries a bit louder this time!

"I want my breakfast! I want my breakfast!," he shouts. So I finally get myself out of bed and wearily shuffle out into the kitchen in order to feed him and his sisters.

A couple of minutes later while I am sitting at the computer, that very same kitty has now positioned himself loyally at my feet (as per usual) as if to say to me, "Thanks mom, I knew you would take care of me!" And, of course, I always do. All this before 5:30AM. Did I mention it was a Saturday?

Sending healing thoughts ...

As bloggers, we often find good people along our ventures via the Blogland community. Many of us find friendship, as well as acceptance, through others with like-minds. Some of us even find much love and support through meeting other bloggers while "chatting" either through our comments or perhaps even personal e-mails and such.

I am fortunate to have a few such blogger buddies whose wonderful company I enjoy immensely! One of my blogger friends happens to be a Solitary Wiccan practitioner named Robin Larkspur who is the author of her fabulous blog, "Wiccan Writes."

Today, I ask you all to please join me in sending some positive, healing thoughts to her furr baby, Lexie. Lexie is an adorable black lab who is currently recovering from a very recent surgery. The surgery went well; however, further tests were needed and her family, as am I, are continuing to keep positive thoughts for her good outcome.

My wise Reiki Master always tells me to picture the person or animal in my mind's eye while wrapping them in a bright healing white light all around.  I have always done this and leave the rest up to the Devine Mother Goddess.

Thank you, my friends and Blessed Be all!

Home sweet home!

Well, we're finally back from our 6-day cruise on the Rideau Canal in Ontario, Canada! And what a trip is was! Cruising the Rideau Canal from Kingston up through Ottawa was an amazing experience. Good food, great scenery, fascinating history, friendly passengers and crew, and an awesome boat named the Kawartha Voyageur.

The only thing missing were our furr babies whom both hubby and I missed terribly! Fortunately, they were in very good hands as we have been blessed with a fantastic friend who always makes sure to go out of her way by going above and beyond the call of duty! She gives both kitties and bunny the extra love and care they need with us away for so long. After we arrived home, I noticed a small bag of baby carrots in the frig for Sam. Since our friend, Judy, refuses to accept any amount of money for her trouble, we always bring her back something special and unique from our trip.

Just one of the many gifts we brought back for Judy in appreciation of everything she has done for us

Needless to say, our cats were happy to see us come back home again ~ after about an hour of kissing a little kitty-cat behind, that is! LOL!
