Blessed Samhain and a Happy Halloween!

Upon a dark and windy hill,
On Samhains’ eldritch night
I saw the Crone with withered hands
By balefires burning light
Her eyes were full of wisdom,
The threads of life She span
And sang, “Blessed Be and Blessed Be
And Blessed Be again!”

This & That ...

Greetings my dear friends! I hope that everyone's new year is going well so far. There are actually a couple of changes going on with both my blogs. First off, I am sure that you all have noticed the new look on this blog. It would appear that the free blog background site I was using for the past couple of years has vanished! Therefore, I had no choice but to make a few changes. I hope that you like it.

Also, for those of you who have been following my other blog, The Wiccan Life, I have decided to ask my long-time and very good friend, Dark Elf, to join me as a co-author. If you would like to read more about it, please click on this link:D

We have already begun to get some snowfall here in Pennsylvania and the cats and I are just enjoying hanging out in the house relaxing in the warmth ...

I also found this awesome site with the coolest cat and mermaid artwork by Robert Kline. I absolutely love these pieces which I have framed and have hung on my living room walls ...

Odds 'n' Ends ...

Well, yesterday was "National Cat Day" here in the States. So, here is (albeit a day late) to the celebration of cats everywhere!!!

Speaking of cats, just a little update on our little Kiki since our vet, Dr. Heather, gave us her new meds. For the past month she has been getting her medications twice a day and has been doing rather well. Her sneezing fits have pretty much ceased. As of today, we are to cut back on her prednisone from two dosages per day to just one. If that works, then we will gradually continue to wean her off of that medication all together. We are keeping our fingers crossed! ...

The Wheel of the Year has turned and tomorrow is Samhain to us Wiccan/Pagans and Halloween to pretty much the rest of Americans. I am planning on celebrating with my sister and twin soul, Rhiannon all day Saturday. We have some special things planned for this year's ritual and I am very excited. Although, this will be my first Samhain celebration/ritual since my beloved dad's passing this past February and, for me at least, it will be a bit of a tough one, but with the love and support of my family and friends I know it will be okay.

And so, my dear friends, I wish each and every one of you a very blessed holiday filled with lots of love and many wonderful surprises!

Trip to New Hope, PA

Greetings, my friends! Yesterday my hubby, my sister Aurora Skye, her husband, and I took a lovely trip to one of our favorite places ~ New Hope, PA. This was Aurora's hubby's first time visiting there and we enjoyed such a beautiful fall day!

New Hope is located in Bucks County, just shy of the New Jersey border. In fact, there is a bridge right off of Main Street in New Hope village which takes you directly into Jersey.

It is filled with dozens of independently owned shops and food establishments which range from the usual to the more unusual. We always love to check out what's new at the awesome witch shops of "Gypsy Heaven" ...

A cool candy dish

A gorgeous Green Man pendant

and Celestial pendant

And, "Mystickal Tymes" where we always have the pleasure of spending some time with "Morganna," the owner Eric's beloved kitty and favorite long-time store mascot who is an amazing 20 years old!

While shopping there, I also came across some wonderful purchases ...

Candle Holder

Mermaid Chalice

Mermaid votive candle holder

Mermaid Statue

'The Gang' posing outside of "Gypsy Heaven"

As well as great shops and delicious food, New Hope offers a variety of fun and interesting things to do such as ...

New Hope & Ivyland Rail Road tours

and The Bucks County Playhouse

Christmas Past

I decided to pick up a healing candle for our cat, Kiki, while we were in "Gypsy Heaven" to aid in my Pet Protection Spell I plan on performing for her in conjunction with her meds we have been giving her from our vet to help her get well again.

After a really beautiful day of family, friends and shopping, it was time to get back to reality. Tomorrow, it's back to work again already.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!!

Blog Name Change

As I am sure everyone has already taken notice, I have decided to change the name/title of this blog from, "Witch Cats Blog" to "The Cat Cottage." I just felt it more fitting of a name.

Enjoy your weekend ALL!!!

This and That ...

Greetings, my friends! Things have been rather busy here as of late. I have been making some additions to the catio, adding a tall kitty condo which I have placed in front of the back window so that the cats may be able to enjoy the view outside. And, I have added a few more nice throw rugs as well ...

Last Friday morning while I was walking out the door to go to work, I was greeted by our favorite little neighbor cat, "Miss Fancy Pants" (hubby and I have nicknamed her "Trixie"). As usual, I opened the door and she walked right in. Apparently, once again, she had gotten away from our neighbor lady and she came to see us. We love her visits, although given the fact that we live very close to a major (and extremely busy!) highway we are naturally concerned about her  safety. We kept her in the catio for the remainder of the weekend until her owner came to pick her up. At least we knew that she would not get hurt or stolen while we were at work all day.

"Miss Fancy Pants" (aka "Trixie")

Long story short, we drove her back home and the woman told my hubby that she had to babysit out of the area every other weekend and asked us if we would like to catsit "Miss Fancy Pants" for her on the weekends that she was away. She also makes handmade catnip toys and generously sent five beautiful bags home with us for our fur babies ...

Lady Tabitha approves of her new catnip toy!

Since we enjoy "Fancy Pants" company so very much (and we only live a block away from her owner), we agreed to watch her. She will have everything she needs in the catio and plenty of love and affection. We haven't actually begun watching her as of yet, "Fancy Pants" owner is supposed to contact us next Thursday to confirm. We shall see how things go.

Until next time, Brightest Blessings All!!!

Getting ready for Beltane

Greetings all! With the up-coming sabbat of Beltane this week, I have been fairly busy adding some finishing touches on my seasonal decorations and preparing my altar for my sister, Aurora Skye, and I as we are planning on celebrating Beltane this year ~ just the two of us.

It is always a special occasion when we are able to find the quality time to spend with both of our hectic schedules these days. Beltane is, in short, the celebration which comes after Ostara/Spring Equinox and represents the sacred marriage of the Lord and Lady or Goddess and God. The name is derived from the Celtic fire god, "Bel" and was also the time of the year for purification ~ two large bonfires were made and the farm animals such as cattle were walked between them to rid them of any parasites.

As for Leo, the newest member of our family, he is still playful as ever and is trying to figure out exactly were he fits in with the rest of his feline siblings ...
